Welcome to San Diego!

Welcome to San Diego!

So … we are off for a week-end in San Diego! This trip is combining several things into one trip … which is the only way I travel lately :-(

First … this trip was a “pay off” to Peanut for not cheering this year. She really didn’t want to, but she didn’t want to give up the trip to Disney World! So this was her alternative.

Second … to visit family! We haven’t seen some members of our family since 2001 and thought it was about time! Plus we had never been to their home in San Diego … it was great to re-connect

Lastly … for the IRS I am actually working … This weekend is the 3rd Don’t Kill Your Patient Conference. I am hoping that there are many more to come!

Dare to dream …

So yesterday I found this really cool website called 43things.com …. It’s a place to list 43 things you really want to do and share them with others. It was a lot of fun looking over the lists of other people and thinking … “hey .. I want to do that too!”

The goal for me however is to list 43 things I can ACTUALLY do and cross of! Not just of 43 things I want to do better. Those are ongoing and will never end. So I will be tweaking and re-tweaking my list in the days ahead.

Hmmmmmm …. maybe I should change the list to 43 things I want to do this year! Then on January 1 I can come up with an entirely new listing???? I need to think about that one …

In the meantime I think I will browse to see what ideas my fellow earthlings have come up with for me to do with my life …

I’m Moving!

OK … maybe not me … but my office is!

In 2001 I gave up my office because of a number of reasons; none of which I was happy with. Well here we are in 2008 and life has given me another chance. So over the next few months in addition to the busy work and travel schedule, I’ve added moving.

Given how crazy that schedule is going to be you would have thought I would find space that is in “move-in” condition … NO .. that would be too easy! This space needs some work and for that I am grateful. I can design things the way I want them to be. This will be my “professional home” for the next several years ….

New Application that may just save my life! :-)

….. or at least keep me from forgetting about it!

There is a service called Jott.com that allows you to call and leave yourself a voice reminder. The message is then sent to you via email and/or by text at a later time! Jott converts your voice into emails, text messages, reminders, lists and appointments. You can “Jott” yourself or others in your network.

It’s really simple to use and easy to set up and best part … at least for now … it’s FREE!

So … It’s Friday!

It has been an incredible week …

I started this week in London attending the International MPI Conference … where I learned a lot not only about myself but the profession in which I have chosen to work.  I also made my world smaller by making friends in several countries that some day I wish to visit.  Or does that make my world bigger????  More friends .. closer together …

Then a quick stop in Holland … although time there is NEVER long enough … It is a place so unlike home, but for me feels like home.  I am smiling knowing I will be back before the year has ended.

After a long 24 hours I found myself in my own bed again … ready to tackle the next 90 days as they will be incredibly busy.  I am anxious to get started …

On top of ALL of that I have been exploring and playing in Second Life … come join me!  My alter-ego is Alina Haywood … she will be living life to the fullest in a very short time.  Re-creating all that I am doing in RL plus MORE!  To do that I am reading, playing and attending as many functions as I can as the learning curve is so steep and there are so many options to explore.

And if that is NOT enough … I am looking to move into new office space …. I need room to grow.

The beginning……

While I was traveling this past week I was asked the following question, “would you rather live a 1,000 days or 1 day 1,000 times?” For me I think I would much prefer to live 1,000 days! Each one uniquely different, each with its own gifts. Why live a life of day in and day out, only to to repeat the same tasks, the same mistakes, the same boring stuff!

I also came to clearly realize exactly what it is that I want out of life … I truly want to experience the world.

SO … here we are … it’s going to be a great trip.
